Kavin Update #7

April 29, 2010

Reflection:

Today has been a hard emotionally for me.  Jason continues to be a rock of encouragement.  He amazes me.  As I cried out to the Lord begging Him to move Kavin along so we can go home and start being a family, Proverbs 34:7 came to mind.  “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.”  Oh!  How the Lord has used this scripture in my life for many things.  The key, I remember, is being so focused on delighting in the Lord, that the desires of my heart actually get lost in the worship and joy of just being close to Him.  I hope for that and pray for that.

Faith is action.  Action of the heart… action of the mind.  As James wrote: faith without action is dead.  Every moment we are jumping off the cliffs of fear, doubt, disappointment, and discouragment, into the ocean of faith.  We have no idea where we are going… or how we are getting there… but moment by moment God encourages us along the way.  Through His word, through words from others… and through the power of PRAYER.

One of the words of encouragement I received today related our trial with Saul on the road to Damascus.  His blindness caused Him to see God for who He really is.  My blindness does the same. I do not know how long this road is… or where it will lead.  But I am depending on Him to guide us through the darkness.

I see Kavin making progress and get overly excited… then impatience wells up inside.  “Just get all better already!”  And then the Lord reminds me once again, it is not about me.  Not to us, but to His name be the glory.

Like Job, was I there when He hung the stars in the sky or set the boundaries of the sea?  Do I know where the storehouses of hail are or how to bring thunder upon the earth?  No.  I am not the Lord.  He alone reigns.  We chose to trust in Him or not.

Where can I go from Your spirit?  Or where can I flee from Your presence?  If I go up to the heavens, You are there.  If I make my bed in the depths, You are there.  If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there Your hand will guide me.  Your right hand will hold me fast. – Psalm 139

So, today is hard… but I am choosing to trust Him and focus on delighting in Him.  As I do, my frustration will fade in the light of His glory.  I guess faith is a process :-).

  1. thank you Seana for being used of Him to open my eyes… so much more fruit out of this trial than you know. Thank you.

  2. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I can only imagine the plethora of emotions that are pulling at you through this journey. Just remember….if he brings you to it, he’ll bring you through it. Platitudes can sometimes seem to be trite, but, as in scripture, there’s a reason they were created. As difficult as it is for me to get in and out of there, I SO appreciate your taking the time to update and share you thoughts and pictures for those who love and care for the three of you.

    Love and hugs, Grammamom
